frequently asked questions
Do you accept custom requests? Yes, I would be happy to make a custom-made quilt or other project. You pick the design, pattern and colors you wish to appear in your quilted work, and I can also incorporate personalized fabrics and other materials into the piece, such as t-shirts. Your pre-approval of design and materials selected will be secured by email. The cost varies for each project and is regulated by size, amount of quilting, and expense of material.
My quilts are constructed using high quality materials, strong quilting threads, & a generous amount of quilting so that it is durable and will last. I use machine piecing & quilting, hand stitching, embellishment, & appliqué processes in a smoke-free environment.
What are the real differences between hand-quilting and machine quilting? First of all, "quilting" refers to the stitches on top of the pieced fabric that holds the top, batting, and backing of the quilt together. Hand-quilting takes longer to do, so any quilts that are hand-quilted are more expensive, but that also makes them more valuable. Machine-quilting creates a more durable quilt and is used on any piece that is likely to be machine washed, such as a baby quilt. My work is based on machine-quilting techniques.
How do we get started? Contact me via the contact form and we can discuss your project and expectations. I look forward to creating a quilted memory for you to enjoy for many years to come.
What is the turn-around time on a quilt? As I don't quilt full-time, my hours are unpredictable and time to complete a project is based on its complexity. I will give you a time estimate on the project quote. If you are hoping to complete a quilt for a special event and need it before that time, just let me know.
